Arteza acrylic paints review

Hi guys!
I'm going to write a review about a fine art product I'm using since some months: Arteza acrylic premium paints. Arteza is a US company famous for the huge variety of art and craft supplies at affordable prices.
I received this beautiful package thanks to an Instagram giveaway I won on January...saying the truth I won the 24 tubes package but it was sold out in their Europe shop and they were so kind sendig me the 60 tubes set! Sometimes I'm lucky too!
I took my time to test these supplies and write a review.
Let's see my opionion about the Arteza acrylic premium paints, I state that they are student grade quality but professional artists would enjoy them too!

Arteza acrylic paint packaging

Packaging

I'll start with the packaging that is a nice box made of thin but resistant cardboard, it contains 10 plastic containers with 6 tubes each one.
I think it is a good way to storage a big quantity of tubes, they are clustered by kind of colors and finding the hue you are searchig for is quite simple. This solution makes the packaging compact (29cmx16.5cmx12cm), looking at the box I couldn't believe it contains 60 colors!
Both on the lid and on the box itself there are the colors chart, the name of colors and technical informations as:
Lightfastness, (marked with ++ or +++, it means how long the colors keep their intensity when exposed to sunlight, I'll talk more about this on another post)
Transparency (transparent, semi-opaque, opaque).
Pigment number
Same details are on each single tube, together with some informatios about the company.
The tubes contain 22ml of paint...it is not a small quantity, considering the price, that I'm going to talk about later.

The only sore point are the tubes lids. After some uses a few of them broke, the central top part fell off. After realizing of their fragility I was careful to not close them strongly, actually I didn't close them fully but I found a few more broke lids and I tried to fix them with adhesive tape. To prevent this inconveniente I recommend you to clean the tube "mouths" (how I could name them?) after use and to don't close hardly the lids. I think Arteza should resolve this trouble, it would be a pity finding dried colors because of faulty lids!

Swatches and impressions

The most funny thing to do when I have a new colors confection in my hands is the swatches sheet.
It is not an end in itself but a very useful tool that helps you to choose the colors you need, because often the colors on the tubes labes don't match with the real colors.
I tested transparency (painting on a black dot) and how they look adding various quantities of white
Normally the student grade lines include a certain quantity of transparent colors (the professional paints do too but it's less noticeable), expecially yellows, some reds and ultramarine blue. It's the same for all brands and Arteza is not an exception. As you can see by the swatches some colors are really transparent.

You can overcome doing one or more layers of white mixed with the color you want to use and than cover with the final paint. For example if I want to cover a no white part of the sheet with yellow -that is a trasparent color- I need to mix together yellow and white, paint the sheet with more layers (it depends on the opacity of the white paint) and after drying go with the yellow paint.

I noticed that the transparency grade claimed by the company is not always corresponding to the real. For example "Magent light" is claimed opaque but it looks transparent by the swatches. it's not a big issue to me, swatches are made to know the paints deeply!

I'm very satisfied about colors vibrancy and consistency. The hues look intence and vibrant, I expecially like the variety of reds, despite I'm not a fan of reds. There are a lot of greens, some of them are similar to each other but they are very nice. I think the different tones of grey are very interesting too. I also love the five metallic paints they included in the package...in short I like any single hue!
Colors are creamy and soft body, easy to blend. They don't dry as quickly as other brands I tried and it's good thing to me because the less funny side of acrylics is the quick drying.
The soft body allows to use them with the brush making soft blends but also to make nice works using a palette knife. After drying they have a glossy finish.

I made the paintings you see here using Arteza acrylic. The first is an illustration of Ciderella, the second is Sayuri from Memories of a Geisha , the third is a palette knife painting. You can see HERE how I blend colors with the brush HERE the creamy texture of the colors.

Price e reachability

The price of 60 tubes set is $60-€50, they made also 12, da 24 e da 36 tubes sets.
You can find them on Amazon, on their US and Europe sites arteza.com and arteza.co.uk or on eBay retailers shops.
Arteza ships just to certain countries:
US, Luxemburg, Demark, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden, Netherlads, Belgium, Bulgaria, Ireland, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Finland, Estonia, Portugal, Latvia, Slovakia, Italy, France, Cyprus, Hungary, Malta, UK, Spain, Austria.

Final vote and conclusions

My vote for Arteza acrylic premium paints is 7/10, one point in less because of the faulty lids, but it was 8/10, in relation to the price.
The quality-price ratio is excellent to me, $1/€0.88 per tube is really good and the overall quality is satisfing . The huge quantity of colors allow you to paint anything you have in mind and mixing the paints together you'll have an almost endless variety of tones.
It would be a great gift idea for an art lover or a crafter.
So, yes, I would recommed to buy these acrylic paints because for sure you would have fun! If you want just try them you might buy a smaller set first!

Have you ever tried Arteza supplies? Do you like them?
Freel free to ask aything!

Fluffy hugs!
